On Saturday, January 15, 2011 as part of the event "a month for others "on Afghanistan, our partner Youth Chess Paris 10 th (called the" social club YEA) opened its doors to the Afghans.

The proximity of the club with the Gare de l'Est and its partnership with the social and cultural center "The Outskirts of Pari's" seemed to meet, on paper, the conditions for success. But you never know in advance whether the meetings will be: Beatrice Sculier until the last moment, at the initiative of this event, was not sure if his gamble works.

... And it was a Saturday to remember!

All appointments were: facilitators of Spark, French Language Home, The Afghan Canteen, chess players, people in 10 th and many others (youth ESA Kremlin Bicetre we were even a surprise visit!). What nationalities without common language ... Yet within minutes everyone communicated: Afghans had brought games that they explained the rules of chess children became teachers, and everyone played, even the translators ... As if by magic the game, universal language, accelerating trade and created the link.

During the afternoon we shared our taste with our guests and discovered Afghan specialties. Chess players have also participated in a workshop making kites, run by Afghans: dozens of kites flew above the garden!

An exemplary initiative
