Monday, November 9 at 20:30 in Clermont-Ferrand - FREE

Screening of short films about dance , containing some of the films that marked the choreographic Short Film Festival.
The meeting was followed by a Discussion pot trade.

Program:

I Dream of Augustine
A woman dreams she is in the infamous Paris hospital of the Salpetriere, where a hysterical young woman, known under the name Augustine, was hypnotized and presented to the public in the 1870s

Cordelia Beresford, the director, is a video artist who has won numerous awards as a filmmaker and director. Born in England and based in Sydney, she graduated from school AFTRS film. His short film horror "The Eye Inside" won the prestigious "Dendy" Best Short Film at the Sydney Film Festival in 2006 and was broadcast on national television. She has twice won the award for best film at the Australian National Dance Awards and is currently working on a new short film whose theme is the ghost of an Aboriginal woman ... In I Dream of Augustine, she revisits the story of the famous woman interned in 1870, through the incarnation of the dancer Narelle Benjamin.

Nora

A poem intense visual and emotional, which tells the story of a young dancer from Zimbabwe.

"Nora's story is full of drama but the idea was not to tell a serious and dramatic way, but rather a poetic manner. He needed something fast, bright, something that combines clarity and narrative intensity with Alla Kovgan and David Hinton. Both filmmakers depict so chorégaphique life of the dancer Nora Chipaumire, born in Zimbabwe in 1965 and exiled to the United States since 1989. It thus follows the divorce of his parents, the death of his father, his love affairs, his political commitment, his exile ... The film is shot in South Africa and describes, through the story of Nora Chipaumire, tensions between ancient and contemporary Africa.

Skin

A single man in the mirror of his studio, sketching his portrait

The history of Christian Bourigault is atypical. His passion for the body has led the paramedics to the choreography. Skin solo inspired by the 1917 self-portrait by Egon Schiele. Found in this work and the tortured body, bruised by the painter to tormented expression. The poses of the dancer deconstructed make him a "body symptom," embodied in various bodily states and mirror effects, and eventually burst, torn between the dancer and his double.

Eden
Extraordinary duet between Adam and Eve, which wraps around his partner, turns and slides down his body and never let go, saying while address and flexibility . The man patiently teach the woman to walk

Founded in 1986, Eden is still a piece particularly striking contrasts in the career of Maguy Marin. Filmed 11 years after its inception, the duo retains the strength and scope specific to major works and is seen even sublimated by a long shot sequence and at a distance given by the gaze of the camera
This melee is both physical performance and a breathtaking moment of grace, which goes beyond mere technical prowess. Inspired by the myth of Adam and Eve, brought this long seen Cathy Polo, dancer faithful Maguy Marin, mingling with the flesh of his partner, Wilfried Romoli, in a series of asphalt. They become inseparable before finally departing.

Embrace

In an abstract space and shiny, black and white, a man and a woman embrace each other as they struggled, then separate. Confrontation lovers body, bestiality sublimated ...

Dancers: Bernadette Doneux Eric Affergan

For over 15 years, Joëlle Bouvier and Régis Obadia formed an inseparable duo, key players in the new French scene. Their collaboration has created fusion of a dozen plays and 4 short films won awards at many festivals. Their work is always tinged with lyricism, passion in the image of the Embrace, which could be an emblem of their company's Sketch. Designed to be projected during the performances, at idle, this film tells the tragic and violent fate of the passion that connects beings.

the shadow of the veil
Two Muslim women, a mother and daughter go to a demonstration against the ban on wearing headscarves in school. Back at home, the mother calls her daughter to drop this veil across a dance distraught and disturbing

the shadow of the Veil is one of the famous trilogy choreography of Arnaud Demuynck . Famous because the movie rubs rarely dance, however we realize that there are two approaches to movement that can be complementary. Arnaud Demuynck
works here from a solo Cécile Loyer, a dancer Josef Nadj fetishes. Dance becomes a way of addressing an issue that unleashed passions: the veil in school. The Dance of Cecilia Rent discovers violence and femininity that can hide a piece of cloth. The disturbance moved gently, but so undeniable determination and face unveiled.
